Observation of atmospheric trace gases which are relevant for ozone chemistry in the tropical and Arctic stratosphere using passive optical remote sensing.
Aim of the project
In the proposed project established time series in the Arctic (Spitsbergen, 79N) and the tropics (Suriname, 6N) will be continued. Because of the discontinuation of satellite measurments in the stratosphere (Schiermeier, 2011) and of the early state of the following generation of satellite instruments which are suitable for this observation, the ground based observation are an important tool to monitor the Montreal protocol. The ground based measurements are important as a bridge between succesive satellite generations.
